We Survived The Storm

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over.
But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.
That’s what this storm’s all about.”

Haruki Murakami

We made it. The storm is over, and we survived (or at least, most of us did).

Now, another storm is on the horizon.

Be assured that when that storm hits, we will not be the same people we were the last time.

We will be stronger. We will be better prepared. We will know the benefits of working through adversity, and we will know that history is slowly bending in our direction.

When the next storm hits, and it is currently fomenting, frothing, and flying towards us, we will be more loving and cooperative in our efforts to build the better world we all know is possible.

Eventually, we will be the storm that washes away all that ails our planet.

Like after a fresh, cleansing rain, all will be revitalized.

We survived the storm.

Now we rest, and prepare for the next entirely predictable conflagration, ready to face its wrath as new and improved agents of change.

  1. Yes, we are all different for having weathered the storm.

    1. We will be ready for the next one... unless they are successful in lulling us to sleep again.

  2. I can say that I survived a literal storm (Sally) and yes, it changed me and I now know I do not want to go through that again any time soon. If figuratively the storm you are referring to is the US election, I have not yet survived that. I rested one day and that is all and now I am bracing for the predictable conflagration as you call it. I can tell you that I have thought many many times to flee to where you are, but I know myself too well to know that cold weather and snow do not agree with me. I am so ready for peace but I fear it is not coming any time soon. :-(

    1. Our political situation is not much better up here. We have our own deep problems inherent in any colonial based, fake two party system. Fewer guns, though.

Plus there is our weather, as you say - talk about adversity! We have had our first snowfall already (early for here), but warmer weather came in behind it.

I am afraid there is nowhere to run on this planet where we can escape the clutches of our dying, gasping global system of raping and pillaging by the wealthy class. Our struggle is global in nature.

Winter is coming... in more ways than one.

Good to see you back blogging. Hope those raging millennials don't take you down. They are trying to silence my voice, but have only strengthened my resolve.

Strength in adversity! Strength in solidarity!

We can do this thing. We ARE doing this thing.

      Phew! Hard.

    2. The next 10 weeks will be tough in the US and I'm concerned. As for blogging again, I'm pretty sure the comments about boomers is a bot of some kind as it seems everyone is getting the same comment, however, one I received actually threatened my job which was concerning. :-/

WHAT A STORM!! As an American, this storm has been ever-present in my life. I wasn’t aware of how tense and anxious I was until I learned that Biden and Harris won. What a day that was!!! There are nefarious forces out there, for sure. And they’re working overtime right now. But there are more good forces and we are mobilized. We are for peace, love, and connection. My hope it that the darkness gets overtaken by light. Thank you for keeping NBA going strong, Gregg and Linda. -Erin

  4. I am still feeling a bit jumpy. I am doing my best to be hopeful, get along with others and keep Covid free. I brought some plants indoors to continue gardening. We can't give in to darkness. Stay safe and healthy, friends!

  5. I cried when I heard Biden won, but have been cautious but hopeful since. This is a small victory, but one that our global community needed. Trying to take it one day at a time.
