Snowfall Warning!

What a winter this has been so far. No significant snowfall and it is March already.

It was looking like this would be the first year since moving to the Maritimes in 2014 that I would not get out for even a single snowshoe adventure in the woods behind our home.

But the forecast today brings hope.

There is a heavy snowfall warning, with up to 25cm predicted for our area.

It snowed a good amount yesterday, which should provide a nice base for the new snow that I hope will fall in abundance.

Today I am snow sealing my hiking boots, and refurbishing my snowshoes.

Toward the end of last years snowshoe season my 23 year old snowshoes finally began to show their wear. Several of the rubbery straps let loose during an outing, and I needed to do several field repairs to make it home.

Since then I ordered new straps from the manufacturer, and will replace them today.

The rest of the snowshoe is basically indestructible, and this refurbishment should enable me to do another 23 years of crashing about the deep snowed woods.

Good to go at least until I'm 84.

Yahoo! Bring on the light, fluffy snow. I will be ready.

Watch for snowy pictures in a future post.
