Turning People Into Trees

“When we go out into the woods, we see all these different trees. And some of them are bent, and some of them are straight, and some of them are evergreens, and some of them are whatever.

And we look at the tree and we allow it. We appreciate it. We see why it is the way it is. We sort of understand that it didn’t get enough light, and so it turned that way.

And we don’t get all emotional about it. We just  allow it. We appreciate the tree.

The minute we get near humans, we lose all that.

We are constantly saying, ‘You’re too this, or I’m too that.’

That judging mind comes in. And so, try practicing turning people into trees.

That means appreciating them just the way they are.”

  2. I concur...agree...accept...after long trials and many missteps I I I have begun to know that shit happens and maybe the best you can do is let it happen, and say a prayer or my current fave, Let there be an end to my suffering and let there be an end to the suffering of all beings...why not

Mike, thank you so much for this comment. I'm in a rough patch right now. Yes, shit happens, I'm doing the best I can, and your prayer for release of suffering for myself and all beings is a perfect way for me to think. Thanks again, Mary

  4. Great post. I get sick of people giving me advice about my perceived physical problems. Yes, I can barely walk, but it a problem for surgery of my spine. I don't need advice to walk more!

  5. Thank you for this beautiful post. I often read something on your blog that calms me, uplifts me or downright challenges me. I'm sorry that I have not commented before - I'm working on that. Generosity of spirit is evident in this space. Thank you. Sally. England
