Reading, Resisting, And Rebelling

The following is from the Corporate Watch website. Download the book for free at bottom.

Capitalism, What is it and how can we destroy it? provides an accessible introduction to capitalism and explores how we might bring about its ending:

What is capitalism? An economic system built on private property, markets, exploitation and profit, enforced by state violence.

But also, digging deeper, a culture of fear and passivity, in which we learn to see the natural world, other people, and even ourselves, as objects to be owned and managed, bought and sold.

The first part of this book gives an introduction to capitalist economics in accessible, non-specialist language.

It covers: the basics of economic systems; financial markets; the global economy and shifting world power; the roles of the state; crisis.

The second part delves into how capitalism shapes our values and desires.

Finally, it turns to resistance and rebellion. So how can we destroy this poisonous system, and start to create new worlds of freedom?

Happy reading, resisting, and rebelling.

Thanks for the link, Gregg, looks like very interesting reading. I hope you and Linda are enjoying a beautiful Autumn - have you lit your fire yet? We are having a spectacular Spring but still enjoying a little fire most days. I'm always a bit sad when we have the last fire of the season. My gardens have burst into life and perhaps you are bringing in and preserving the last of your harvest? So much pleasure without leaving home!

    1. We had a long, hot summer, and it was great. Now it has cooled off, and many things in our gardens are done. We replanted peas and kale earlier this month, so if the weather is good, we will get another crop of those. Late summer has been busy with laying up all our produce. No time to go anywhere - hyperlocal living.

We have not had our first fire yet, but nights are into the single digit temperatures, so it might not be long. Last fire is also a sad day here, but once the weather turns, we don't miss it for long.

We are looking forward to our first fire. That could happen any time between about the end of this month, and the beginning of November.

Happy almost Spring, and things bursting into life. How exciting.

did you think that destroying your own children's future would have no consequence? We millennials are now full blown communists, and you boomers are going to watch your country become communist before you finally drop dead

    1. Until you discover who really destroyed your future, you will have no chance of fighting back.

  3. Thanks for the link. My spouse and I are trying to make sense of how to move forward in an anti-capitalist, anti-consumer way and live a simpler, more gentle life. Your blog has been a welcome to change to the sea of investment heavy, side hustle, real estate focused content I typically come across.
