International Women's Day

How To Use Lipstick - by Anne Derenne

Art can be used to say things that may be uncomfortable to say with words. Sometimes, art is more powerful than words, as in, I think, these examples marking International Women's Day.

International Women's Day, by Galym Boranbayev

Like Earth Day, I think that every day should be Women's Day. The world will be a better place when we truly value the contributions of nature AND women.

Thank you to all women for everything you do. I hate to think of what this world would be like without your strength, love, and ability to persevere through conditions that most non-women would find unbearable.

I love you Mom. Thank you for showing me the way.

  1. My grade three boys and girls couldn’t believe that women didn’t used to be able to vote...and as for pay inequality..goodness, they were cross!

    1. Franny and Danny,

Grade four was my favourite age group to teach. Kids at that age are at a magical stage of development, and I know from experience, they can smell bullshit from a great distance. And they are not afraid of calling it out. I love them.

  2. Capitalists would have us believe that if you work hard, you'll get ahead and "make something of yourself" If working hard was the only factor, African women would be billionaires.

    1. Marla,

Tea and crumpets for the parasitic classes, and a meaningless, outdated work ethic for the rest of us. But they can't have their tea and crumpets without us. We should quit working for them, and quit encouraging and condoning their dismal behaviour.

Working hard for your self, family, and community is good. Working hard for the capitalists is not.
