Foods We Don't Buy Anymore



What we have found over the years is that all the things we used buy processed are easy to make at home. And invariably, they are better tasting and contain healthier ingredients, which is a bonus. And they are less expensive. And with far, far less packaging. 

There is nothing to not like here… except the part where you have to make it yourself, which as experience shows us, most people don’t want, or have time, to do.


Take pickles. Pickles are ridiculously easy to make, refrigerator style or canned. And baked goods, too. Bread may be time-consuming, but it is also easy.

Here are a few other things that we don't buy anymore, but instead make for ourselves:

- refried beans
- graham wafer biscuits
- samosas
- yogurt
- pizza
- baked products (loaves, pita, tortillas, pancakes, crackers)
- baked beans
- salad dressings
