The polar vortex brought falling snow as well as cold temperatures. |
“Here
I'm here-
the snow falling.”
― Kobayashi Issa
Kobayashi Issa (1763-1828) wrote over 20,000 haiku. Always poor, he used the language of the mountain villages where he lived to write his poems.
Animal tracks everywhere. Poles put in photo for scale. |
Issa always found delight in the little creatures of this world.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI check out Issa, it's interesting that he wrote about the smaller animals in such detail. I love toads who I think are wonderful creatures. Nice to get original insights into this world which we are part.
Peace,
Alex
And snails, too! He had the time and wherewithal to observe all the nature around him. An excellent example for us all.
DeleteHis broom never went deep, so as to spare any tiny living things, like spiders.
I always feel joy when I see house spiders.
DeleteYou are looking Great Gregg! We too have had an abundance of snow here on the West Coast. I like it
ReplyDeleteOh, such lovely photos! Not much snow here this year (southern Manitoba) but cold, with windchill values you don't even want to think about. My late husband used to recite "Pissing in the snow outside my door - it makes a very straight hole. Kobayashi Issssssa" at chichi book launch parties when he thought the attendees were getting a little too full of themselves. Just realized how much I miss him.
