ReplyDeleteI check out Issa, it's interesting that he wrote about the smaller animals in such detail. I love toads who I think are wonderful creatures. Nice to get original insights into this world which we are part.

And snails, too! He had the time and wherewithal to observe all the nature around him. An excellent example for us all.

ReplyDeleteOh, such lovely photos! Not much snow here this year (southern Manitoba) but cold, with windchill values you don't even want to think about. My late husband used to recite "Pissing in the snow outside my door - it makes a very straight hole. Kobayashi Issssssa" at chichi book launch parties when he thought the attendees were getting a little too full of themselves. Just realized how much I miss him.
