Find Beauty

Hummingbirds are beauty personified.

There seems to be a glut of ugliness in the world right now. Can one pay attention while maintaining a healthy, sane state of mind? It can be a real problem if you are awake to current global affairs.

If you have a problem, application of its opposite is the answer. So one would counter hate with love, war with peace, and waste with thrift.

In the same vein, the way to counter ugliness is to seek out beauty.

“Wherever you are, at any moment, try and find something beautiful. A face, a line out of a poem, the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a wind farm. Beauty cleans the mind.”

- Matt Haig

Today I am choosing to see the beauty that is around me always. By focusing on the beautiful, I cleanse my mind.

A cleansed mind is a joyful mind. A joyful mind can deal with ugliness, and take action to counter it when it occurs.

Have a beautiful day, everyone.

What is the beauty that you are finding today?

I found beauty this morning in the squirrels that frolic and play in our courtyard - they make me smile and laugh, which is the best medicine. And I find beauty in myself - in my quest for truth, peace, fairness, serenity, and joy - I sincerely like being Me. -Erin

I was outside for a very frosty, sunrise this morning. Just gorgeous and so uplifting. Winter certainly has it's own beauty.

    2. Madeleine,

Here we are just before our summer officially begins, and you have me hankering for winter. It is so nice to enjoy ALL seasons and everything they have to offer.

Watch out for the rogue comma - they sneak in everywhere in my, writing. Oops, happened again.

This is such an important thing to do. Today it was hard for me to find something, but wet and windblown autumn leaves made beautiful golden patterns stuck to the outdoor table.

    1. Linda,

Sometimes the beauty seems like it is hiding, but it IS there. Always. Glad you found it today. Thank you for sharing, and for fast forwarding me a few months to the time when we will be enjoying our own autumn leaves.

Our trees are just getting to Peak Leaf right now, and are resplendent in multiple shades of green. Dappled light on the forest floor. Smells great. Beautiful.
