Kitty Mandalas

“You suffer because things are impermanent and you think they are permanent.”
- Thich Nhat Hanh

I will meditate on this, the next time I wipe my garden clean of kitty "art". Every experience can be seen as an opportunity for learning and growing, if only we are patient, compassionate, and open-minded.

I will call it, "Zen and The Art Of Garden Maintenance".

I wish I had read this wonderful post BEFORE I cleaned the cats' litter box! This gave me a much-needed laugh today. Thanks, Gregg.

    1. Sophie,

Laughs are good. If you can laugh about cat droppings, you can laugh about anything.

    1. Terri,

I read "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" a long time ago, and enjoyed it a lot. It might be time to read it again.

I see it is available on Internet Archive:

    2. I have "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" on cassette tape and I have a player! I listened to the book read on tape while painting someone's large business a few years ago. The narrator on my set is awesome. We are kindred spirits, this post brought the classic book back to mind and I've been thinking of a re-listen! Thanks for providing the link to free reading online! The internet does indeed support us as we amble the road of simple frugal living!

  3. I am very much enjoying your like minded ideas as I wander through your blog. I am also very much into the joys of not buying anything and it is great to find a kindred spirit. Have added yours to my blog roll :)

    1. Jo,

Thank you so much for visiting our blog. Leaving your comment enabled us to visit you at:

You are right - we are definitely on the same page.

I say this after Linda and I visited your wonderful blog. We really enjoyed your most recent post on rubbish. Reducing consumption, cooking with whole foods, recycling and composting have all helped us to reduce our garbage production to the point it would take us weeks to fill a large garbage bag.

It was good to see someone else that takes rubbish seriously in a simple living setting. Your kids will benefit greatly from your example, as will the readers of your writing. I have included All The Blue Day on our sidebar, and encourage NBA readers to check it out.
