Make Compost Not War

Everyone is offering up their peace plans to stop WWIII. Here's mine.

I propose everyone waging war switches to making compost and gardening. Is there a food crisis happening right now, or not?

Who is doing more to improve the world? Those waging war? Or those wrangling compost?

I suggest that everyone currently focused on killing, instead devotes themselves to making compost. To planting and nurturing a garden. And feeding people.

War equals death.

Compost equals life.

The compost and garden teach of love, peace, harmony, and connection to the larger living community.

War is the opposite of all of that.

Let's choose making compost. Let's choose growing gardens. Let's choose life.

Let's choose peace.

  1. Living in an apartment, sans balcony or patio, I am not in a position to garden anymore. I am not moving because this place has gone from sublet to sublet for over twenty years and as a result my rent is ridiculously low for the area (Manitoba is rent controlled). I eat a high plant derived diet and all that potential compost going to waste was drivng me crazy (er, some would argue). This past spring I made an arrangement with a former co-worker who lives a few blocks from me and has a marvelous backyard garden, to provide her with my compostables. I purchased a couple covered pails and once a week, at the back door of my building, I hand her a full pail and she hands me an empty. I wasn't expecting it, but throughout most of the summer the pail returned to me was not returned empty but filled with fresh garden produce. A win/win all around.
