(n) 1. a pile of shit (literally and figuratively) 2. worthless junk and/or pointless things and activities 3. the technical term for anything that doesn't have survival value.
Example: "The stuff in most people's garages is crap - real piles of waste."
(adj) (crappy) worthless, terrible, shoddy, pointless, etc...
Example: "Our crappy system is going to kill all life on this planet."
See decrapping (v). making something simple and beautiful again.
Example: "Wow. Your house looks great after your major decrapping project."
We are going to need to cut the crap, and change the crapitalist system that spews it endlessly, if we are to save ourselves.
No one needs more waste.
No one.
None.
The caption under the picture really made me laugh! And I needed a good laugh, so thank you.
ReplyDeleteI mostly agree with your definition of crap but did hesitate at 'survival value'. Does my piano have 'survival value'? An artist's brushes and pencils? Perhaps we could broaden the definition to include those things that genuinely uplift the human spirit and contribute to mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing?

I'm in. Consider the definition broadened.
DeleteOne could argue that all art has a beneficial effect on human well-being, and therefore has survival value.
When it is hard to laugh is probably when it is most important to laugh.
Not much funny going on in the world right now. If it weren't so tragic it might be funny.
Our neighbour's cat makes me laugh all the time. So does their six year old son. I have so many cucumbers that it makes me laugh thinking about what I will actually do with them all. Maybe my neighbours will laugh when I share our garden gifts with them.
