"Like a lazy flowing river, Surrounding castles in the sky, And the crowd is growing bigger..." Traveling Man is a soft smooth song a lot like South City Midnight Lady, another favorite. Blackwater, an unexpected hit for them and it continues to stay with us!

Tom Johnson, Pat Simmons and the other Doobie Brothers were a great band. They've reunited with four lead guitars (!) and are touring again.

After this conversation, I had a Doobie Brothers day, listened to their Wolf Trap concert (2007) on You Tube which was stellar. The best they ever were. Great fun, great things come from your blog!

Including Jack Kerouac. I must read "On the Road." Will be getting it from the library.

I digress, this isn't a music blog, but fun to chat about!

TerriAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4312736954468978064.post-16197549273495269752014-06-30T12:00:11.552-03:002014-06-30T12:00:11.552-03:00Gam,

It was totally unrestricted because for once we did not have to worry about neighbours - we DID NOT hold back like we had to at home, and it felt great.

So free.

Gregg Koephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09349453216733070775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4312736954468978064.post-15671071553332658512014-06-30T11:56:52.416-03:002014-06-30T11:56:52.416-03:00Miss Marla,

I think they are on the right track as far as simplicity and our connection to "The Power" are concerned. They know what is important, like living an unencumbered life.

Hope you and your mom are well. We are staying a few days with Linda's mom right now, but will be hitting the road once again soon.Gregg Koephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09349453216733070775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4312736954468978064.post-61207968093890014262014-06-30T11:53:15.448-03:002014-06-30T11:53:15.448-03:00Terri,

My favourite lyrics are from "Blackwater".

"And I ain't got no worries
'Cause I ain't in no hurry at all

Well, if it rains, I don't care
Don't make no difference to me…"

Word I have lived by.

I can see that "Travelin' Man" is from the Doobie's first studio album, which I am not that familiar with. I will be giving it a listen today. The lyrics you quoted are so similar to Jack Kerouac's quote above.

Beautiful.

Gregg Koephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09349453216733070775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4312736954468978064.post-18172133479035119122014-06-28T14:29:12.055-03:002014-06-28T14:29:12.055-03:00As the Quakers say "Unencumbered"As the Quakers say "Unencumbered"Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4312736954468978064.post-35680895178359838102014-06-28T03:11:24.667-03:002014-06-28T03:11:24.667-03:00lovely in so many ways!lovely in so many ways!Gam Kaunoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4312736954468978064.post-44818813692343361072014-06-28T01:34:34.996-03:002014-06-28T01:34:34.996-03:00Ah, you're there, that place where it all gets...Ah, you're there, that place where it all gets in perspective, where freedom is indescribable.
