Happy Thanksgiving

What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for my simple, beautiful life. I voted today at my advanced polling station, and I am thankful for that as well. May simplicity and democracy work hand in hand to provide freedom and sufficiency for all in Canada and around the world.

Note: no turkeys were harmed in the creation of this post, or in my Thanksgiving celebration.

  1. Dear Geoff,

When my youngest son was in 3rd or 4th grade, his teacher gave all the students turkeys to color and cut out. These turkeys were holding muskets. (Whaaattt??? I can hear you say it all the way in Ohio). We for the most part are vegetarians. We have had many Thanksgiving feasts (of course not until November here) without turkey. My son, being socially conscious even at the young age of 9 or 10, releived his turkey of its musket and gave it a bouquet of flowers instead. I love thinking about that little boy, who grew up to work with the homeless population in California. No turkeys were harmed by other turkeys in this story.

    1. Thank you for sharing that sweet story. Kids are the best, and your son sounds like a real gem. Turkeys don't harm turkeys, people harm turkeys.

It must be an Ohio thing! Even though it's been many decades since I was in elementary school, we had the same turkey to color at Thanksgiving. What message have we been sending?

  2. Great story, Geoff! I enjoyed my vegan eggplant and carmelized onions pizza for Thanksgiving dinner. No turkey was harmed.
