Hours of Life vs Money and Stuff

You only have so many hours in your life - about 657, 000 on average.

You can always make more money, but you can't make more time. There are only so many fleeting hours that we will be here, like the breath of a buffalo in the winter time as Chief Crowfoot said on his deathbed in 1890.

Figure out your real wage. It is expensive having a job.

I have enough money for now. I don't need more things.

Once you pass "enough" fulfillment goes down anyway - might
as well just stop there and enjoy yourself.

What I want are more hours of life, more freedom. I want to use more of what I have left of my 657,000 hours for things that make me happy, whatever they may be.

Bike rides make me happy.

As far as I am concerned the work-consume trade-offs suck.

Simple living is the path to taking your hours back.

I am grateful to wake up when I am going down a path that will zap my precious time. Life is what we make of it!

    1. Erin, I enjoyed your post over at Good Clouds. What I particularly liked was the thought process you describe in your post "Not Buying It". It is rational, logical, and liberating!

Waking up is good. Advertising promises never live up to their hype, leaving us unsatisfied soon after purchase. You end up spending more and more money to get less and less satisfaction.

It can feel better not buying as buying. When we resist we can either save more money, give some to charity, or chose to work less.

When we use our precious time creatively, and guided by our passions, living becomes our art.

Thank you for sharing your blog. I have added it to our sidebar blog roll.

This evening i was enjoying memories of my "productive" weekend spent with my daughter and husband....
~we built an additional raised bed for veggies in our yard made of wood+ metal screen we already had around.
~Canned 24 jars of plum jam using plum and lemons from our fruit trees.
    ~slow cooked beans from scratch.
    ~made granola
    ~made bread
~went on 2 walks and a bike ride

Productive by enjoyment and fulfillment standards but not by earning money standards. If given the chance to go back- I would not change a thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Anon, Wow! Sounds like an ideal weekend. Wonderful.

I did some gardening, cooking, and biking this weekend, too!

      Thanks for sharing the goodness.
